Information about the SCV's search for a new Executive Director

Down to the wire

The SCV Executive Director Search Committee has nearly completed its task.

The committee met last week and conducted extensive in-person interviews with several finalists for the position. Based on these interviews, the committee now has the difficult task of determining which of the very qualified candidates to refer to the GEC for a final decision.

It is not known when the final decision will be made, but the CIC is hopeful that the GEC can vote on the question before the General Reunion in a few weeks.

Nonetheless, the Committee is under no particular deadline and will continue to accept submissions until a final decision has been made and therefore encourages any interested parties to make a submission.

Compatriot Ben Sewell has announced his intention to retire as SCV’s Executive Director.

Exec. Dir. Sewell has pledged to the General Executive Council that he will remain in office until his successor is selected.

“Although we are certainly sad to see Ben retire, we are grateful for the many years of dedicated service he has rendered to our organization,” Commander-in-Chief Michael Givens said. “Ben has helped lead the organization through some challenging times and I know the whole Confederation joins me in saying how much we appreciate his work.”

CIC Givens has appointed a search committee to begin the process of vetting candidates for a full time replacement. The chairman of the search committee is Past CIC Christopher Sullivan. In addition to CIC Givens, other members include Lieutenant Commander-in-Chief Kelly Barrow, Judge Advocate-in-Chief Burl McCoy, Past CICs Chuck McMichael and Denne Sweeney, and Ben Sewell.

The committee will get to work right away and Chairman Sullivan said that more details will be forthcoming as soon as the committee has been able to meet and get organized, but he expects they will begin accepting applications sometime after the first of the year.
